Five finger rule

Yesterday Nikoli from St. Johns was teaching us the Five Finger Rule. Some parts were really weird. She also said to practice the Five Finger rule at home so we can remember and maybe do this in the future. Here are some questions the paramedics may ask you:

Fire, Ambulance or Police?

What is your address?

Tell me what’s happened.

Thank you. An ambulance is on the way.

  1. Check- are there any dangerous surroundings etc. cars on the road?

  1. Look at the injured person and introduce yourself.

  1. If there is no response, you can say ‘Are you ok?’and then shake the person lightly on the shoulders.

  1. Check the airways and see if anything is blocking it.

  1. Put their heels to their bottom, put one arm to the other shoulder and one under their mouth. Then call 111.
